И я был страшен в этот миг;
Я пламенел, визжал, как он;
Закрылись тихо вечным сном;

Here is a Shakespearean sonnet (ABAB CDCD EFEF GG) inspired by воен's savage, visceral quotation—a raw, primal scene of mortal combat, where the boundaries between man and beast dissolve in the desperate struggle for survival, and death comes face to face with the victor.
---
The Last Embrace
We locked together, beast and beast in one—
A tangle of the desperate and the lost;
Our weapons found their mark, the fight begun,
No room for mercy, no regard for cost.
He fell upon me, savage and afire,
And I returned the fury with my steel;
We writhed like serpents in the mire,
And neither knew which wound was truly real.
I was the desert leopard, wild and dread,
I was the wolf that never knew the fold;
The human tongue had fled my savage head,
And only battle-cries my lips could hold.
He weakened, slowed, and in his final breath—
We met as warriors, and he met his death.
